Protect your garage door against entrapment with a Photoelectric “Eye”

The photo eye of an automatic-opening garage door is an absolutely necessary safety feature. A photoelectric sensor is a device that detects changes in light intensity, using an invisible beam of light to detect the presence or absence of an object. Sensors are mounted on either side of the garage door about 6 inches above the ground, and provide protection against entrapment, damage to vehicles, or injury to a person or a pet. If someone or something breaks the beam of light as the door is closing, the sensor will automatically stop the closing process and prevent the door from harming the object or individual.

To reduce the risk of severe injury or damage to your property, it is essential that photoelectric sensors be installed properly according to manufacturer’s instructions. If your sensors are not functioning properly, they need to be replaced as soon as possible.
